Dasyuridae

Dasyuridae is a family of marsupials native to Australia and New Guinea, sometimes called the marsupial carnivores, in the order Dasyuromorphia. It includes seventy one living species across seventeen genera, among them the quolls and the Tasmanian devil, along with smaller members known as marsupial mice and marsupial shrews. Most dasyurids are small and mouse or shrew-like, ranging from the tiny Pilbara ningaui at under six centimeters and a few grams to the Tasmanian devil at up to sixty five centimeters and eight kilograms; they are primarily insectivorous but will also eat small lizards, fruit, and flowers, and many retain primitive marsupial traits such as unfused toes and simple skin folds instead of a full pouch.
