Leporidae is the family of rabbits and hares, in the order Lagomorpha, comprising numerous genera distributed naturally across most continents. The family includes the genus Oryctolagus, whose single species, the European rabbit, is the ancestor of the domestic rabbit and has been introduced widely around the world.
