Pitheciidae is one of five families of New World monkeys now recognized, including the titis, saki monkeys and uakaris. The family comprises fifty four extant species across six genera organized into two subfamilies. Its geographic range extends from Colombia in the north to Bolivia in the south, with most species inhabiting the Amazon Basin, particularly in Brazil.
