Rubiaceae is the madder family of flowering plants, one of the largest plant families, comprising thousands of species across several hundred genera distributed mainly in the tropics and subtropics. The family includes the genus Coffea, source of coffee, and is characterized by opposite leaves with interpetiolar stipules and tubular, often fragrant flowers.
