Spheniscidae is the family of penguins, flightless aquatic birds of the order Sphenisciformes, found almost entirely in the Southern Hemisphere. The family includes the genus Aptenodytes, containing the emperor penguin and king penguin, and the genus Eudyptes, the crested penguins, and members are adapted for swimming with flipper-like wings and dense, insulating plumage.
