Tragulidae

Tragulidae is a family of even-toed ungulates in the suborder Ruminantia, commonly called chevrotains or mouse-deer. It contains ten living species across three genera, Hyemoschus, Moschiola, and Tragulus, and is the smallest hoofed mammal family in the world, with Asian species weighing one to four kilograms and the single African species seven to sixteen kilograms. Despite the common name, chevrotains are not closely related to true deer; they lack antlers and horns but the males have elongated canine teeth, and they have four-chambered stomachs for digesting plant material. They live in forests of South and Southeast Asia, with one species in the rainforests of Central and West Africa.
