Anser

Anser is a genus of waterfowl, family Anatidae, comprising the 11 living species of grey geese and white geese, with a Holarctic distribution: at least one species breeds in open, wet habitats across the subarctic and cool temperate Northern Hemisphere in summer, and most populations migrate south for winter. Species range in size from the bean, greylag and swan geese at around four kilograms down to the smaller Rosss and lesser white-fronted geese at 1.3 to 2.3 kilograms; all have pink or orange legs and feet, bills that vary in color by species, and white under- and upper-tail coverts, with some species carrying white on the head.
