Cebus

Cebus is a genus of New World monkeys, subfamily Cebinae, family Cebidae, known as gracile capuchin monkeys, comprising roughly 16 recognized species including the white-headed capuchin, white-fronted capuchin, wedge-capped capuchin and Kaapori capuchin. The genus was separated from the robust capuchins in 2011, retaining the name Cebus while the more heavily built species were moved to the genus Sapajus; gracile capuchins have longer limbs relative to body size and rounder skulls than their robust relatives, lack adaptations for cracking hard nuts, and no male in the genus develops head tufts. They range across Central America and northwestern South America, with the Panamanian white-headed capuchin reaching as far north as Honduras and other species found in Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, the Guianas and Trinidad.
