Cyanopica

Cyanopica is a small genus of two magpie species in the crow family Corvidae, sharing a common lineage with the genus Perisoreus, its name derived from Latin terms for lapis lazuli and magpie in reference to their azure coloring. The azure-winged magpie inhabits eastern Asia across most of China, Korea and Japan and north into Mongolia and southern Siberia, while the Iberian magpie occupies southwestern and central Spain and Portugal. The genus was established in 1850 by Charles Lucien Bonaparte, who designated the azure-winged magpie as its type species in 1855.
