Esomus, commonly called flying barbs, is a genus of freshwater ray-finned fish, family Danionidae, the only genus in the monotypic subfamily Esominae established by Tan and Armbruster in 2018, with the type species Esomus vittatus, named by Swainson in 1839. Comprising nine species, the genus is found in South and mainland Southeast Asia and is distinguished by unusually elongated barbels.
