Histriophoca is a monotypic genus of true seal, family Phocidae, containing the single species the ribbon seal, a medium-sized, ice-dependent pinniped of Arctic and subarctic waters of the North Pacific Ocean, particularly the Bering Sea and Sea of Okhotsk. It is distinguished by striking coloration, with two wide white stripes and two white circles set against dark brown or black fur.
