Lemur

Lemur is a genus in the family Lemuridae containing a single living species, the ring-tailed lemur, the most internationally recognized lemur species owing to its long tail patterned with 12 or 13 white rings and 13 or 14 black rings ending in a black tip. It is a medium to larger sized strepsirrhine primate with a slender frame, narrow face and fox-like muzzle, and is endemic to southern and southwestern Madagascar, where it is endangered. It is omnivorous and the most terrestrially adapted of the extant lemurs.
