Linepithema is a genus of small ants in the subfamily Dolichoderinae, comprising 20 species native to a range spanning northern Mexico, east into the Caribbean and south into northern Argentina, occurring at elevations from sea level up to 4,000 meters in the Andes. Two members have spread globally through human activity, including the Argentine ant, an invasive species with a notable presence in Mediterranean climates worldwide.
