Loris is a genus of slender lorises in the family Lorisidae, comprising two species, the red slender loris, found exclusively in Sri Lanka, and the grey slender loris, found in Sri Lanka and southern India. They are characterized by extreme gracility, with enlarged orbits, short pointed snouts and no visible tail, weighing 85 to 385 grams with females larger than males, and possess a toothcomb and elongated spine enabling serpentine arboreal movement. Slender lorises are nocturnal, live mostly in trees within tropical rainforest, scrub forest and swamp habitats, and are highly faunivorous, feeding mainly on insects and reptiles along with some plant shoots and fruit.
