Mecistops

Mecistops is a genus of true crocodiles known as the slender-snouted crocodiles, native to sub-Saharan Africa, comprising two species that diverged during the Miocene roughly 6.5 to 7.5 million years ago: the West African slender-snouted crocodile, found in countries such as Benin, Nigeria and Ghana, and the Central African slender-snouted crocodile, found in Cameroon, Gabon and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Adults typically reach about 2.5 meters, occasionally up to 4.2 meters, and weigh 125 to 325 kilograms, with males considerably larger than females and a notably slender snout adapted for catching prey.
