Osteochilus is a genus of freshwater ray-finned fish, family Cyprinidae, subfamily Labeoninae, established by Gunther in 1868 with Rohita melanopleura as the type species, comprising 30 recognized species; Cyprinidae is the family including the carps, barbs, minnows and related fishes. The genus inhabits mainly Southeast Asia, with some species extending into adjacent parts of China.
