Pagophilus is a monotypic genus of true seal, family Phocidae, containing the single species the harp seal, native to the northernmost Atlantic Ocean and Arctic Ocean. The species was reclassified into this monotypic genus in 1844 and is distinguished by the harp or saddle-shaped marking pattern on its back.
