Paradoxurus is a genus of civets, family Viverridae, first described by Frederic Cuvier in 1822, comprising three species commonly called palm civets: the Asian palm civet, the golden palm civet and the brown palm civet, distributed from India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka through Myanmar, Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia to the Philippines, Borneo and Indonesia. Members have a broad head, a narrow muzzle with a large, deeply grooved rhinarium, large rounded ears, and a tail nearly as long as the head and body combined; males lack baculum bones. All three species are currently assessed as Least Concern.
