Parakaryon is a genus of single-celled organism containing the sole species Parakaryon myojinensis, also known as the Myojin parakaryote. It is a highly unusual organism known only from a single specimen, described in 2012, that shows features of both prokaryotes and eukaryotes while remaining apparently distinct from either group, making it unique among all other organisms discovered so far.
