Pithecia

Pithecia, commonly called the sakis or saki monkeys, is a genus of New World primate in the subfamily Pitheciinae of the family Pitheciidae, order Primates, with the type species Simia pithecia, the white-faced saki, established by Linnaeus in 1766. It is closely related to the bearded sakis of the genus Chiropotes. The genus contains approximately 16 recognized species, though several species-level classifications remain disputed. Sakis range across northern and central South America, from southern Colombia through Peru and northern Bolivia into central Brazil.
