Prionailurus

Prionailurus is a genus of small, spotted wild cats, family Felidae, comprising five extant species and one fossil species, distributed across South, Southeast and East Asia. The leopard cat and Sunda leopard cat range across the continental mainland and the Sundaland islands respectively, the flat-headed cat occupies the Thai-Malay Peninsula and nearby Southeast Asian islands, the fishing cat is found across South and Southeast Asia, and the rusty-spotted cat is restricted to Nepal, India and Sri Lanka. Members generally favor forest habitat and feed on small mammals, reptiles and birds, with the fishing cat also taking aquatic prey.
