Rasbora

Rasbora is a genus of small freshwater fish, family Danionidae, a family split from the traditional Cyprinidae under modern classification, comprising more than 80 valid species, found primarily in freshwater habitats across South and Southeast Asia and southeast China; one species, Rasbora gerlachi, has a questionable African origin based on an old specimen. Members reach up to 17 centimeters in length, though most species do not surpass 10 centimeters, and many display a dark horizontal stripe along the body. Several species are regularly kept in aquariums, and the common name rasbora is also applied to related genera within the subfamily Rasborinae. Well known species include the silver rasbora, Rasbora argyrotaenia, the blackline rasbora, Rasbora borapetensis, the clown rasbora, Rasbora kalochroma, and the three-lined rasbora, Rasbora trilineata.
