Rhinosciurus is a monotypic genus containing the single species Rhinosciurus laticaudatus, the shrew-faced or long-nosed squirrel, found in forests of Peninsular Malaysia, possibly adjacent southern Thailand, Singapore, Sumatra, and Borneo. It is a terrestrial squirrel that feeds mainly on insects and earthworms, resembling a treeshrew in appearance but distinguished by its shorter gape and shorter, bushier tail; it is considered Near Threatened.
