Saimiri

Saimiri is a genus of New World monkeys, subfamily Saimiriinae, family Cebidae, known as squirrel monkeys and the only genus in its subfamily, comprising five recognized species. The genus name derives from Tupi words for small monkey. Squirrel monkeys have short, close fur that is black at the shoulders with yellow or orange fur along the back and extremities and white on the face, black-and-white facial markings that inspired the name death's head monkey in some European languages, body lengths of 25 to 35 centimeters and tails of 35 to 42 centimeters. Most species inhabit the canopy of Amazon rainforest in Central and South America, with one species, Saimiri oerstedii, occurring separately in Costa Rica and Panama.
