Sotalia is a genus of dolphin, family Delphinidae, comprising two living species, the tucuxi, Sotalia fluviatilis, and the Guiana dolphin or costero, Sotalia guianensis, recognized as distinct species in 2007 based on morphometric and mitochondrial DNA analysis. Members of the genus are found along the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts of Central and South America, as well as in the Amazon River and most of its tributaries.
