Acorales is an order of monocot flowering plants containing a single family, Acoraceae, and a single genus, Acorus, whose common names include calamus and sweet flag. Molecular phylogenetic research places Acorus as sister to all other monocots, making Acorales the oldest surviving lineage within the monocots, a position that led to its separation from the family Araceae, where it was historically classified.
