Apterygiformes is the order of flightless birds containing the kiwi, five living species in the family Apterygidae and genus Apteryx, found only in New Zealand. Kiwi are the smallest of the ratites, the flightless bird group that also includes ostriches, emus, cassowaries and rheas.
