Bacillales, named from the Latin bacillus for little staff or wand, is an order of Gram-positive bacteria in the phylum Bacillota and class Bacilli, established by Prevot in 1953 with Bacillus as its type genus. It is the most species-rich order of the phylum Bacillota and includes the genera Bacillus, Listeria and Staphylococcus.
