Boletales is an order of Agaricomycetes established by E.-J. Gilbert in 1931, containing more than 1,300 species with a strikingly diverse range of fruiting body forms. Although the boletes for which the order is named are its most familiar members, molecular analysis has shown the order also contains distinct groups of agarics, puffballs and other fruiting body types.
