Embioptera is an insect order commonly known as webspinners or footspinners, a small group of mostly tropical and subtropical species. More than 400 species in eleven families have been described, with long flexible bodies and short legs, and only males bear wings; the oldest known fossils of the order date to the mid-Jurassic.
