Musophagiformes is the bird order containing the turacos, plantain-eaters and go-away-birds, grouped in the family Musophagidae, whose name means banana-eaters. These African birds are semi-zygodactylous, able to switch their outer toe backward or forward, and are noted for prominent crests, long tails and pigments that produce bright green and red plumage found nowhere else among birds.
