Dragonflies and damselflies: predatory insects with two pairs of long, transparent, heavily veined wings and exceptionally acute vision from large compound eyes. Odonata spend a juvenile, aquatic stage as a predatory nymph before emerging to a short-lived, aerial adult stage.
