Otidiformes is the order of large terrestrial birds containing the bustards, 26 species in the family Otididae found mainly in dry grassland and steppe habitats across Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia. Bustards are omnivorous, show strong sexual dimorphism with males often more than twice the weight of females, and include the kori bustard and great bustard, among the heaviest birds capable of flight; the group is thought to have originated in Africa roughly 30 million years ago.
