Psocodea is the order of insects containing the bark lice, book lice and parasitic lice, previously ranked as a superorder before being reclassified as a single order. The parasitic lice, formerly placed in their own order Phthiraptera, were found to have evolved from within the older order Psocoptera, which was itself shown to be paraphyletic and is no longer accepted as a natural group.
