Zingiberales

Zingiberales is an order of flowering plants forming one of four orders in the commelinid clade of monocots, alongside its sister order Commelinales, and comprises eight families organized into a banana group and a ginger group, with 68 genera and about 2,600 species. Its members are typically large herbaceous plants with rhizomatous roots, large showy flowers, and modified stamens that form colorful petal-like structures, and the order includes economically important plants such as bananas and gingers.
