Kinorhyncha is a phylum of microscopic, spineless marine invertebrates commonly called mud dragons. They live in seafloor sediment and move by alternately anchoring and retracting a spiny head, since they have no external cilia for swimming. Roughly 300 species have been described, ranging from intertidal mudflats to the deep sea.
