Agile Gibbon

The agile gibbon, also called the black-handed gibbon, is a tailless Old World primate of the gibbon family found in Sumatra in Indonesia, in Malaysia, and in southern Thailand. Its fur ranges from black to red-brown with a white brow, and males can be identified by white or light-grey cheeks; males are also slightly larger than females. It typically weighs 4 to 6 kilograms, averaging around 5 kilograms, though captive individuals can reach 8 kilograms, and its head and body length measures 44 to 63.5 centimeters. The species is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List and included in CITES Appendix I, threatened primarily by habitat destruction and the illegal pet trade.
