The Australian clownfish (Amphiprion rubrocinctus), also called the red anemonefish, is endemic to northwest Australia, ranging from Ningaloo Reef to Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Unlike many anemonefish it shows little color variation across its range, sex, or host, appearing blackish or dark brown on the sides with a red snout, breast, belly, and fins and a single, often faint, white head bar. It depends on only two host anemones, the bubble tip anemone and the giant carpet anemone, and feeds mainly on zooplankton. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
