Australian Tree Fern

Australian tree fern, Cyathea cooperi, is a fast-growing tree fern of the family Cyatheaceae native to the rainforests of eastern Australia, notable among tree ferns for its relatively rapid growth rate compared to most other species in its family. Its slender trunk is marked with distinctive oval leaf scars left where old fronds have dropped, and it has become widely cultivated outside its native range for ornamental use, in some regions such as Hawaii escaping cultivation to become an invasive species that outcompetes native tree ferns.
