The European wildcat is a small wildcat species first described in the late eighteenth century. Its fur is brownish to grey with stripes on the forehead and sides, and it has a bushy tail with a black tip. Its head and body reach up to 65 centimeters long with a tail up to about 34.5 centimeters, and it can weigh as much as 7.5 kilograms.
