Jaguarundi

The jaguarundi is a small wild cat native to Central and South America, with a range that also extends into the far southern United States. Unlike most small cats, it has an unusually elongated body, short legs, a small flattened head, and a long tail, giving it a build often compared to a weasel or otter rather than a typical cat. Its coat is uniformly colored, usually a solid gray, reddish, or blackish brown with no spots, unlike most of its spotted relatives in the genus Leopardus. It is active during the day more often than most small cats, hunting on the ground in a wide range of habitats from rainforest to scrubland, feeding on small mammals, birds, and reptiles.
