Kitti's hog-nosed bat, also known as the bumblebee bat or hog-nosed bat, is a near-threatened species of bat and the only living member of the family Craseonycteridae, found in western Thailand and southeastern Myanmar, where it occupies limestone caves along rivers. It is the smallest species of bat and arguably the world's smallest mammal by body length, with a reddish-brown or grey coat and a distinctive pig-like snout; colonies average about 100 individuals per cave, and the bat forages for insects in nearby forest during short activity periods at evening and dawn, with females giving birth to a single offspring each year. Its status in Myanmar is not well known, but the Thai population is confined to a single province and may be at risk of extinction from habitat degradation and disturbance of roosting sites.
