Nutria

The nutria, also called the coypu, is a large, herbivorous, semiaquatic rodent native to South America, where it lives in burrows along waterways and feeds on aquatic and riparian vegetation. Introduced to North America, Europe and Asia chiefly by fur farmers, it is still trapped for its pelt in some regions, but introduced populations damage wetland vegetation and infrastructure through feeding and burrowing, and the species is considered invasive in several countries.
