The San Lorenzo harlequin frog is a species of true toad in the family Bufonidae found only in Colombia, restricted to the humid montane forests of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta across the departments of Magdalena, La Guajira, and Cesar. It has dark or light brown dorsal coloring, sometimes spotted, with a brown X shaped mark on its upper back, a pointed snout, no visible eardrum, fingers with little webbing, and toes that range from fully to partially webbed, its skin covered in granules, small conical bumps, and warts, with males measuring 32 to 37 millimeters and females 45 to 51 millimeters. It lives in sub-Andean forest between 1,900 and 2,800 meters, including closed canopy secondary forest and streamside habitat where it breeds, and is known from only four highly localized populations. The IUCN lists it as endangered, threatened by possible chytridiomycosis infection and by habitat loss from agriculture and logging.
