Bufonidae, whose members are called true toads, is a family of frogs in the order Anura and the only anuran family in which every member is recognized as a toad, though some, such as harlequin frogs, are also called frogs. The family now comprises more than 35 genera, of which Bufo is the best known, and true toads are native to every continent except Australia and Antarctica, occupying habitats from arid regions to rainforests.
