White-nosed Coati

The white-nosed coati is a raccoon relative found from the southwestern United States through Mexico and Central America into northern South America, recognizable by its long, upturned snout and long, often upright tail. Females and young travel in bands of a dozen or more that forage on the ground during the day for insects, fruit, and small animals, while adult males are typically solitary except during the breeding season. It adapts well to a range of habitats, including forests near human settlements, and remains widespread and common.
