Anas is a genus of dabbling ducks in the waterfowl family Anatidae, including the pintails, most teals, and the mallard and its close relatives. The name Anas is Latin for duck. The genus formerly included additional species, but following a 2009 molecular phylogenetic study it was split into four separate genera, leaving Anas with 31 living species.
