Ctenosaura

Ctenosaura is a genus of lizards, family Iguanidae, commonly known as spinytail iguanas or ctenosaurs, comprising 15 currently recognized species and at least two further unrecognized species, native to Mexico and Central America. The name derives from Greek words for comb and lizard, referring to the enlarged, spiny scales on the tail that resemble a combs teeth. Members inhabit lowland dry forests, woodlands and semi-open habitats below 1,200 meters elevation on both coasts, and range in total length from about 12.5 centimeters to well over one meter including the tail.
