Drymarchon is a genus of large, nonvenomous snakes, family Colubridae, commonly known as indigo snakes or cribos, comprising six currently recognized species native to the southeastern United States, Mexico, Central America and South America. Members are large, robust snakes with smooth dorsal scales and glossy blue-black coloring, and the generic name means lord of the forest; males are larger than females, a difference attributed to intraspecies male competition.
