Myoscolex is a genus of early animal known from the Cambrian Emu Bay Shale in South Australia. Its taxonomic affinity is unresolved; it has been interpreted both as an annelid worm and as an arthropod close to Opabinia. Myoscolex is notable as the earliest known example of phosphatized muscle tissue, which shows distinct segmentation, or annulation.
